Where do I download the app?

The app is not in the App Store yet. Until then you can use Readerly on this website: sign in with Apple or Google and you can start right away.

Do I need an account?

Yes. When you start, you create one with Apple or Google. You do not need to come up with a password, because Apple and Google take care of that.

How do I import my books?

Readerly reads the export file from Goodreads and from The StoryGraph. In the app, Settings walks you through it step by step, with screenshots for Goodreads. Important: first save the file on your phone before you choose it in Readerly.

You can also import on this website: sign in and choose Import in the bar at the top. Choose the file you downloaded from Goodreads or The StoryGraph, and your books will appear in the app as well.

Why am I not getting recommendations yet?

Recommendations appear as soon as you have earned the five medals on For you:

Once you have rated eighty books, you get your recommendations either way. Still seeing nothing after that? Send us an email.

Why can I not get new recommendations?

You get one new set of five recommendations every month. You can fine-tune your recommendations three times a month, and use "Check our advice" thirty times. If you have already used them this month, your recommendations simply stay where they are, and on the first of next month you can go again.

What if a recommendation is off?

Below your recommendations on "For you" you will find Not quite right? with the button Fine-tune your tips. There you say what you want more or less of, and how long a book may be. The next round of recommendations takes that into account.

How do I add a friend?

Go to Friends and choose Add a friend. Look someone up by username or by their full email address and send a request. Once they say yes, you see each other's shelves, books and activity.

What if someone is bothering me?

Open that person's page and choose the three dots at the top right. You can then pick:

Where is my data stored?

On your own device, and on a server in Europe that belongs to your account. That way you have your books and shelves on your phone and on this website, and you can make friends. The privacy policy (in Dutch) explains exactly what is stored where. Want a fresh start? Erase your library in Settings.

How do I delete my account?

In the app or on this website, at the bottom of Settings, with Delete account. This removes your library, your shelves, your reviews, your username, your profile photo, your recommendations and your friends. This cannot be undone.
